Spiritual Wellness and Mental Health
Family Strategies Counseling and Mediation therapists are committed to honoring the spiritual needs of our clients. Many individuals or families are deeply committed to their faith and base much of their lives around spirituality or religion. Prayer, meditation, or some other spiritual connection aspect may form part of someone’s self-care routine, as might attending a place of worship.
Spiritual wellness can also play a significant role in one’s ability to cope with adverse life events. Many experience spiritual practices to:
- Provide Social and Emotional Support
- Help find meaning or purpose
- Offer comfort in times of grief
- Provide ethical and moral guidelines
Mindfullness, also called mindful awareness, is a form of cognitive training that aims to reduce stress, promote self-awareness, and improve mental clarity. Mindfulness can take many forms, such as breathing techniques, visualization, or meditation.
Energy Healing often involves physical touch, as in “laying hands on” someone but also can be done “long-distance” as a form of prayer or meditation. In an energy session, the intention is to create a deep relation to help speed healing, reduce pain, and decrease other symptoms one might be experiencing.
